And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventymen of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to
be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the
tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
Thus God rendered the wickedness of
Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:
So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even
to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy
thousand men.
And Ahab had seventy sons
in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of
Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,
Then he wrote a letter the second time
to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye
the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow
this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons,
were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.
So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of

But the other Jews that were in the
king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and
had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and
five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
And it shall come to pass in that day,
that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years,
according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years
shall Tyre sing as an harlot.
And it shall come to pass after the end
of seventyyears,
that the Lord will
visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with
all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
And this whole land shall be a
desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of
Babylon seventy years.
And it shall come to pass, when seventy years
are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation,
saith the Lord,
for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual
desolations.
For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years
be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward
you, in causing you to return to this place.
And there stood before them seventy men
of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood
Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a
thick cloud of incense went up.
Now the building that was before the
separate place at the end toward the west was seventy cubits
broad; and the wall of the building was five cubits thick round about, and the
length thereof ninety cubits.
In the first year of his reign I Daniel
understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of theLord came
to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years
in the desolations of Jerusalem.
Seventy weeks
are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for
iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision
and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Speak unto all the people of the land,
and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh
month, even those seventy years,
did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto
thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times
seven.
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face
into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
And the seventy returned
again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy
name.
