BIBLE SCRIPTURES WITH THE NUMBER FORTY (40)










For yet seven days, and I will cause it
to rain upon the earth forty days
and forty nights;
and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of
the earth.






And the flood was forty days
upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift
up above the earth.






And it came to pass at the end of forty days,
that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:






And he spake unto him yet again, and
said, Peradventure there shall be forty found
there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.






And forty days
were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are
embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.






And the children of Israel did eat
manna forty years,
until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto
the borders of the land of Canaan.






And Moses went into the midst of the
cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.






And their forty sockets
of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.






And he was there with the Lord forty days
and forty nights;
he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the
words of the covenant, the ten commandments.






And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of
years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths
of years shall be unto thee forty and
nine years.






And they returned from searching of the
land after forty days.






And your children shall wander in the
wilderness forty years,
and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.






After the number of the days in which
ye searched the land, even forty days,
each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years,
and ye shall know my breach of promise.






And the Lord'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made
them wander in the wilderness forty years,
until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord, was consumed.






And thou shalt remember all the way
which the Lord thy
God led thee these forty years
in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine
heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.






Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee,
neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.






When I was gone up into the mount to
receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days
and forty nights,
I neither did eat bread nor drink water:






And it came to pass at the end of forty days
and forty nights,
that the Lord gave
me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.






And I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights:
I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.






Thus I fell down before the Lord forty days
and forty nights,
as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you.






And I stayed in the mount, according to
the first time,forty days and forty nights;
and the Lord hearkened
unto me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy thee.






Forty stripes
he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above
these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.






And I have led you forty years
in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not
waxen old upon thy foot.






About forty thousand
prepared for war passed over before the Lord unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.






For the children of Israel walked forty years
in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of
Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: unto whom the Lord sware that he would not shew them the land, which
the Lord sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a
land that floweth with milk and honey.






Forty years
old was I when Moses the servant of theLord sent
me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it
was in mine heart.






And the land had rest forty years.
And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.






They chose new gods; then was war in
the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand
in Israel?






So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he
goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.






Thus was Midian subdued before the
children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country
was in quietness forty years
in the days of Gideon.






And the children of Israel did evil
again in the sight of the Lord;
and the Lord delivered
them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.






And it came to pass, when he made
mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side
of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy.
And he had judged Israel forty years.






And the Philistine drew near morning
and evening, and presented himself forty days.






Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years
old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of
Judah followed David.






David was thirty years old when he
began to reign, and he reigned forty years.






And the Syrians fled before Israel; and
David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of
their host, who died there.






And it came to pass after forty years,
that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I
have vowed unto the Lord,
in Hebron.






And the days that David reigned over
Israel were fortyyears:
seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in
Jerusalem.






And Solomon had forty thousand
stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.






And the house, that is, the temple
before it, was fortycubits
long.






And the time that Solomon reigned in
Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.






And he arose, and did eat and drink,
and went in the strength of that meat forty days
and forty nights
unto Horeb the mount of God.






In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash
began to reign; andforty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's
name was Zibiah of Beersheba.






And of Asher, such as went forth to
battle, expert in war, forty thousand.






But the Syrians fled before Israel; and
David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand
footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.






And the time that he reigned over
Israel was fortyyears;
seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in
Jerusalem.

Joash was seven years old when he began
to reign, and he reigned forty years
in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beersheba.






But the former governors that had been
before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and
wine, beside forty shekels
of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not
I, because of the fear of God.






Yea, forty years
didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their
clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.






Forty years
long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err
in their heart, and they have not known my ways:






And when thou hast accomplished them,
lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of
Judah forty days:
I have appointed thee each day for a year.






No foot of man shall pass through it,
nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty
years.






And I will make the land of Egypt
desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among
the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the
nations, and will disperse them through the countries.






Yet thus saith the Lord God; At the end of forty years
will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:






And the breadth of the door was ten
cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five
cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits:
and the breadth, twenty cubits.






In the four corners of the court there
were courts joined of forty cubits
long and thirty broad: these four corners were of one measure.






Also I brought you up from the land of
Egypt, and led you forty years
through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.






Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and
offerings in the wilderness forty years,
O house of Israel?






And Jonah began to enter into the city
a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days,
and Nineveh shall be overthrown.






And when he had fasted forty days
and forty nights,
he was afterward an hungred.






And he was there in the wilderness forty days,
tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto
him.






Being forty days
tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were
ended, he afterward hungered.






To whom also he shewed himself alive
after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the
kingdom of God:






He brought them out, after that he had
shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the
wilderness forty years.






Then God turned, and gave them up to
worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye
house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space
of forty years
in the wilderness?






And about the time of forty years
suffered he their manners in the wilderness.






And afterward they desired a king: and
God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the
space of forty years.






And they were more than forty which
had made this conspiracy.






But do not thou yield unto them: for
there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men,
which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink
till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from
thee.






Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes
save one.






When your fathers tempted me, proved
me, and saw my works forty years.






But with whom was he grieved forty years?
was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?




Revelation 7:4

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed and hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel



Revelation 11:2

But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.



Revelation 13:5

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.



Revelation 14:1

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.



Revelation 14:3

And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth



Revelation 21:17
And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
